How can we maintain confidence and motivation when we haven’t reached our goal point of perfection yet?
We better learn because for most of us, we’re not there yet. Though some of us might be. But chances are, even those few guys who might be don’t see themselves that way and still see lots of imperfection.
Other people can see us and say we look great and it’s true. But we look at ourselves and we see where we want to go and where we are and and we look down and reject where we are at this moment. ?We diminish the progress we’ve made and the good parts of our body and focus on the worst pieces acting like they are the whole. On a regular basis, people tell me that I have “their goal body” which is so hard to believe. Because when I look at myself, I see that I still have so far to go to get to where I want to be. ?We’re all waiting for that time WHEN when we will give ourselves permission to approve of our bodies and be happy with ourselves. ?That someday.
What we need to learn to do is look at ourselves now and experience it and love it and see how amazing we really are now and how far we’ve come. If we could learn to see ourselves through others eyes and internalize their appreciation, approval, and encouragement it would be amazing the change we would experience and how we would feel. And that feeling would create a creative energy that would launch us forward even faster towards achieving our ultimate goals.
The fact is that we are works in progress. And we will always be. There’s never going to be a time when we stop changing.
Learning to accept where I am and myself as I am right now is a SKILL. One I need to practice and cultivate because it is the root of confidence. How can you truly have confidence if you don’t first have pride in yourself – acceptance of where you are now in your process? Self-acceptance is the secret key to confidence.
There is so much more to confidence than we realize. More than a way I feel, it is a state of being and an action at the same time. Almost chemical. The way you smell, the way you smile. The way others perceive and receive you.
The alpha dog isn’t just the alpha dog because he looks the prettiest or has the lowest percentage of body fat, the most muscle or the best proportions. It is that essence and embodiment that we are shooting for and that all of our efforts and the actions we are taking along with all the tools at our disposal will add up to.
It’s the culmination of all these factors that will create the Body, reality and Confidence we really want.
